Autism in Black and Brown Communities
While ASD affects individuals from all racial and ethnic backgrounds, research shows that the prevalence of autism is often underestimated in Black and African communities. Furthermore, Black and African families with autistic children face unique challenges in accessing autism resources and services, including cultural barriers, and stigma. As a result, it is crucial to understand the impact of autism on our communities, as well as to identify strategies to support Black and African families affected by autism.
